Nick, As I read this blog, the first thing that comes to my mind - and parallel to your message - is that 2 months ago, my wristwatch band broke. The watch, along with the broken band are sitting on my desk. While you continue to glance at the wall, I continue to glance at my watch-less wrist. And when at my desk, I then glance over to the pile of parts that need simply be taken to the jeweler to be adjusted and reassembled. Similarly, when I look to my own self and my brokenness, I need remember that it's my Maker that makes me whole and fully restored. Thanks for now putting new meaning to my naked wrist. I will continue to think of these lessons...until my watch finds it's place once again.

Thanks Lisa for your affirmation! :) That's a good word about being more intentional about it.

Thanks for sharing. Affirmation is so powerful. I think it's a tool we can be intentional about developing, too. It's almost an art. A well-placed affirmation can simultaneously affirm where I am and challenge me to move in the direction I want to go. A catalyst for positive change... An essential skill for influential leadership!

Dr. Howard,
Thank you so much for your beautiful and affirming text of today. I'm certain is using you. This email exactly at a time that I really need to be reminded how affirming is our God. I really appreciate it. May the Lord continue to inspire and bless you.

The awesomeness is that "He always wants to know us better..." It would seem that as Almighty God, He already knows us completely, and that it is "we" who should want to know "Him" better. His wanting draws our heart to more wanting.

Nick,
What a wonderful message to receive as I gather with family and friends! I am so thankful for you, your guidance, and your ministry.

To your message on discipline. Here is a quote I will be using tomorrow before the blessing: "Thanksgiving was never meant to be shut up in a single day." Robert Casper Lintner

Have a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving.

What a challenge to maintain Thanksgiving in the midst of Black Friday. It's a cruel trick to jam these two events back-to-back. I'm going to read this post again Friday morning.
