The awesomeness is that "He always wants to know us better..." It would seem that as Almighty God, He already knows us completely, and that it is "we" who should want to know "Him" better. His wanting draws our heart to more wanting.

Nick,
What a wonderful message to receive as I gather with family and friends! I am so thankful for you, your guidance, and your ministry.

To your message on discipline. Here is a quote I will be using tomorrow before the blessing: "Thanksgiving was never meant to be shut up in a single day." Robert Casper Lintner

Have a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving.

What a challenge to maintain Thanksgiving in the midst of Black Friday. It's a cruel trick to jam these two events back-to-back. I'm going to read this post again Friday morning.

This morning, I woke in the wee hours...knowing that I faced a busy and challenging day, my mind was racing. I finally gave in and headed to my desk. Turning on my computer I read a brief devotional for the day which referenced Josh 1:9. I decided to mark the verse in my bible...and unintentionally began a little journey! What a POWERFUL message the Lord gave to Joshua...three times in as many verses..."Be strong and of good courage"..."Only be strong and VERY courageous"..."Have I not COMMANDED you? Be strong and of good courage; DO NOT be afraid, nor be dismayed."

The whole story of Joshua being called by God to lead the Israelites into the Promise Land is one of the great stories of the Bible, and one I have not referenced in some time. Amazingly, a bit later, as I prepared a book to send your way, I began searching for an address and "bumped" into your essay on leadership and strength! Wow...what a blessing the Lord sent my way today. So often we face challenges and perplexities and try to cope with them on our own or with a quick prayer for God to bless our efforts. What a great reminder that the Lord desires to partner with us...He has great and awesome strength to provide, if we will just stop and take time to ask, before moving on in faith!

Thanks for blessing me a second time this morning!

Thank you, Stan, for your insightful comments. I think that to have seen Jesus speak with authority, where he is completely "rooted and established in love", must have been a remarkable experience. May we all grow in strength and in leading in strong, redemptive ways. Blessings to you, Stan.
